URKUND is very straight forward to use via e-mail, and many of our clients choose this method to check work for potential plagiarism or to enhance learning. However, our system can also be used to great advantage as an integrated part of a school’s chosen digital learning tool. Integrating URKUND with an existing learning management system (LMS/VLE) extends the value a school already receives without adding complexity whilst increasing the value of the LMS/VLE itself. There are already integrations with more than forty commonly used LMS/VLEs such as Moodle, Blackboard, SchoolSoft, SharePoint and more.
In cases where a learning management system brand does not already have integration with URKUND, developers can create one. URKUND offers, free of charge, a full developer's kit for established suppliers of
digital learning environments – both commercial and academic – along with the ability to assist in the process. The average time to build an integration with URKUND's developer kit is two weeks and our specifications are consistently regarded as clear and logical by those who have used them.
Our web service communicates through a REST-based protocol that uses XML or JSON over HTTP. The web service handles functions for the submission of documents and obtaining information about previously
submitted documents. The developer’s package contains documentation that clearly describes these as well as the requirements and recommendations the integrator needs to relate to. Together, we can deliver a service of consistently high quality that meets the end user’s high expectations. To create an integration, URKUND requires a signed integration agreement, after which we grant access to the developer area of our web service.

“We’ve definitely noticed an increasing incidence of plagiarism since URKUND was introduced, and previously there was of course a high level of undetected incidence. It was far too time consuming for the teaching staff to carry out their own plagiarism checks. The automation has led to a bigger haul of perpetrators,” says Joshua Kragh Bruhn, Information specialist at CBS.
“The preventive objective of plagiarism detection is highly significant. When the students become aware of URKUND they are less inclined to seek shortcuts. Trying to cheat the system is ultimately more resource intensive than doing a good job from the start,” says Arshad Hussanee, Learn Online Manager på University of Canberra.
